This was a fun shoot I did with a friend and her violin, Esmeralda (we musicians name our instruments; it's totally a thing) after classes on the first day of fall. We didn't go into it with a ton of ideas; most of the pictures were schemed up on the fly. A portion of these are actually candid. She had to lug around her backpack and her violin case so we used both as props. Due to a few quality issues - lighting, clarity, and the like - I messed around with some things in editing I don't usually use, such as grain and toned black and white. These may be some of my favorite portraits I've ever taken - especially the very last one!
Shot with Nikon D5200 and 50mm 1.8
